Edible Blooms in the Community
At Edible Blooms we believe in supporting the communities that support our business. We believe that we are blessed to operate in such an abundant country and it is our responsibility to assist those that are not so fortunate. And we believe that as a team of young entrepreneurial women, we should help all women to achieve their full potential and live long, healthy and rewarding lives. It's all about working together!
With these beliefs in mind, we provide support through the following channels:
The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF)

In Australia, one woman dies every ten hours of ovarian cancer. There is no simple or effective screening test for the disease, which means that most women diagnosed are already in the advanced stages of the disease.
There is a marked difference in survival rates if ovarian cancer is detected early. That's why the OCRF is committed to developing an early detection test and improving the mortality rate and long-term wellbeing of women with ovarian cancer.
Edible Blooms has partnered with the OCRF to help raise funds for this much needed research. Launching the partnership with a $5,000 donation in March 2011, Edible Blooms continues to support the OCRF by donating $10 from the sale of each special edition Silver Ribbon Bouquet to the cause. You can view and purchase these bouquets here, in Medium and Large sizes.

Opportunity International Australia (Opportunity)

Two dollars. It's what an Australian parking meter makes per hour and what almost half the world survives on per day.
Opportunity provides microfinance and support services to people living in poverty in India, Indonesia and the Philippines who want to transform their lives by starting their own business. With 94% of loans made to women, $100 can fund a sewing machine to begin a tailoring business or seeds to grow a vegetable trade. More than a loan, their training and support programs help their 2.5 million clients grow their businesses, extending the benefits from one person to an entire community.
Microfinance has been credited by the UN as "one of the key driving mechanisms towards halving extreme poverty and hunger by 2015".
In June 2010, Edible Blooms donated $10,000 to Opportunity to help microfinance clients in West Timor. With 97% of loans paid back and recycled, these funds will continue to assist communities in poverty for years to come.

In-Kind Donations
Edible Blooms is committed to supporting the local communities of our stores in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Each year we donate products to local community organisations, schools and charities to assist their fundraising efforts. In 2009 and 2011, Edible Blooms also donated money from the sale of blooms to the recovery funds established for the 2009 Victorian Bushfires and 2011 Queensland Floods.
