We think the garden is full to the brim with healthy goodness and sometimes, although we all try and be healthy Greenies, we need a little encouragement to incorporate as many fresh herbs and spices into our diets as we can.
Here are 5 every day herbs and spices that provide HUGE health benefits...and we’ve even suggested ways that you can incorporate these into your daily lives, to get that extra little bit in your diet.
1. Aloe Vera
Antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, wound and burn healer, natural laxative, soothes stomach, helps skin ailments. Try an Aloe Vera face mask. It’s like a drinking 5 litres of water in one hit for your skin!
It has been proven that 99.9% of viruses and bacteria can not live in the presence of cinnamon. We think a home made hot choccie with a dash of cinnamon is a great way to get a little more cinnamon into your diet.
Antiseptic, antibacterial, cleansing and detoxifies the body. Supports the liver and combats cirrhosis. Hang rosemary in a bunch from your shower rose, this is a beautiful cleaning and detoxifying ritual for the skin.
Is known for its antiseptic properties. Lemon also improves micro-circulation, promotes white blood cell formation, and improves immune function. Home made lemon and honey drink is beautiful and warming in the winter months and you can drink it as an iced tea in the summer.
Helps fight infection, detoxifies the body, enhances immunity, lowers blood fats, helps asthma, sinusitis, circulatory problems and heart conditions. Home made garlic bread is soooooo easy and much better for you than the store bought stuff. Try it next time :)
