Mother's Day is an occasion that is celebrated in various parts of the world to express respect, honour, and love towards mothers. The day is an event to honour the contribution of mothers, and acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our society.

Mother's Day Dates Across the World

The date of Mother's Day varies from country to country.  The earliest day being in Norway and the latest 15th October in Malawi.  The date has changed multiple times for certain counties.  In Japan, who originally celebrated Mother's Day on the 6th March was later changed as this was the birthday of the Empress Kōjun. In 1949 it was subsequently changed again to the second Sunday of May.
